Toby & Tabby: Biting the hand that feeds us since 2007
|

About Me
I am Toby and Tabby's long-suffering owner. My name is Jay and I live in Silver Spring, Maryland. I am a full-time writer, a part-time
musician and a permanent victim.
OK, OK, OK.... I grew up with cats. My mom loved them ferociously, and she taught me that animals can teach us. They can teach
us maturity and responsibility. They can soften (and strengthen) our hearts. They can teach us patience -- sometimes lots of it.
Most of all, they can teach us a different way of looking at the world and realizing it doesn't necessarily revolve around us.
Our family cats were a key part of my childhood. We took family vacations with them. We created good, safe homes for them. We
doted on them. We made them happy, and they returned the favor, because our home was far stronger for having them around. It
is no exaggeration to say I am a better person today because of this influence.
They taught me things about life that I couldn't learn elsewhere. The first time I ever saw my dad cry was the day in 1985 when we
buried Lulubelle, our beautiful, elderly calico that had been a part of my parent's lives ever since before they married in 1968. The
first time my mom ever beat the bejeezus out of me was when I accidentally let Lulubelle loose with a dog nearby. Boy, did I get a
thumping. That was 1983, and I still hurt.
My goal for this site is to make you laugh, make you think and make you share your own stories, comments and suggestions.
Most of all, I want to make you glad you're not me -- you don't have to deal with these two devil cats as I do.
